Youth Center Worker – Auxiliary/On Call Positions
Salary: $18.96/per hour
Age Requirement: Over 19

Reporting to the Youth Programs Coordinator, this position is responsible for supervising youth at the Sam Williams Youth Center in Haines Junction. This position is responsible for the supervision and mentorship of at least one teenaged Youth Leader, supervision and positive role modeling for youth center participants, proper care and on-going maintenance of the center, preparing & serving food in the cafe and the development and delivery of a range of quality programming for youth. The incumbent will be expected to take a lead in preparing and organizing programs; promoting community spirit and pride by encouraging community participation in CAFN youth activities; developing and maintaining open communication lines to discuss issues or concerns of youth; making referrals to support services such as peer counseling, guidance for troubled youth; Registration and other pre-program requirements; on-site monitoring of programs to ensure smooth program delivery and providing administrative functions for the program including record keeping, preparing reports, collecting statistics and developing posters. The incumbent will assist in the supervision of the Youth Center by providing on-the-job training to Youth Leaders and volunteers.

Education and Experience
College/University level preferably someone in youth recreation, outdoor education or social sciences field and/or related employment experience working with youth

Reporting to the Housing and Properties Journeyman Carpenter Field Foreman, this position is responsible for assisting with construction, renovation and maintenance of CAFN residences, infrastructures and community buildings. The majority of the work is in Haines Junction; however, there will be a requirement to travel to other CAFN communities, as well as other Yukon communities on occasion.

The incumbent will be expected to set a good example for students by role modeling a positive, healthy lifestyle and by participating in cultural and traditional activities.

Education and Experience:
Successful completion of post secondary education, preferably in the fields of education or social work or one year’s experience in counseling combined with one or more years experience in delivering and managing cultural and/or general education programs; and experience working with First Nations students, schools and communities; or an equivalent combination of training, work and life experience.
